1. What are the charms made out of?
All of the charms, silver beads, various rings, and toggles are made of precious metal clay, which consists of super fine particles of fine silver suspended in clay, along with a binder. When fired the binder burns away leaving 99.9% fine silver. Because fine silver is a precious metal like gold no oxidation will occur like traditional sterling silver.
2. Are any of the chains made out of the precious metal clay?
Most of the chains are sterling silver, as well as the square clasps used. The hand-linked chains are formed using fine silver wire and the hand formed jump rings are Argentium Silver wire, which has a percentage of sterling silver and fine silver (it oxidizes slower than traditional sterling silver). Every piece in the line has a description of the materials used.
3. Are the earrings/ear wires sterling silver?
The fish hook and lever back earrings are all fine silver. Because fine silver is a precious metal like gold no oxidation will occur like traditional sterling silver. The earrings can be worn by anyone with allergies to sterling silver.
4. Are any of the pieces cast?
No. All of the original pieces are designed by Gwynnie B and individually handcrafted. No two are ever a like.
5. Do you do custom orders? What if I want a shorter/longer chain?
Yes, custom orders are available and there’s no problem making a chain shorter or longer. Please contact Gwynnie for any special request.
6. Do you ever teach workshops?
Yes. Please check the website and blog for a class schedule. WARNING: workshops are full of fun and creativity!
